Approach

Treatment Approaches
ACT: Acceptance and commitment therapyRecommended for those who want to stop fighting negative thoughts and learn how to live with more acceptance and focus on what really matters in life.
CBT: Cognitive behavioural therapyRecommended for those looking for practical support and accountability to change unhelpful thinking and behaviors.
MindfulnessMindfulness is the process of maintaining a purposeful moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and surrounding environment.
PsychoanalysisRecommended for those who want to explore how their unconscious mind and early experiences affect their current behaviors and feelings.

Do you feel like you are stuck in a pattern of behaviors and thoughts that aren't working for you? Are you using food, alcohol, drugs, sex, hoarding, or other compulsive behaviors to avoid negative feelings? Do you fall into a pit of despair or hopelessness that you are afraid others may not understand? Do you have trouble making or keeping friendships, relationships, jobs? I will work with you to figure out how you developed certain coping mechanisms, and help you to release self-blame and perfectionism. Together we will explore your inner world to figure out what may be unconsciously tripping you up. Once we have figured out what's happening under the surface, then you can have some control over it, and use new, life-affirming coping mechanisms to build a more contented life. Is your kid struggling with anxiety or a low mood? Are you going through a major life change that you see coming out in your kid's behavior? I work with kids and their parents to help them learn growth-supporting ways to handle life's emotional ups and downs.
