About me

I’m Alexandra-Maria Iurian, an accredited therapist with the NIP (Nederlands Instituut van Psychologen), the professional association for psychologists in the Netherlands. I provide therapy for people who feel overwhelmed by anxiety, overthinking, and emotional difficulties, offering a safe and supportive space where they can slow down, understand what they are going through, and begin to feel more balanced. My work focuses strongly on nervous system regulation, helping clients understand how stress and emotions affect the body and mind. In therapy, we work together to reduce anxiety, calm the constant cycle of overthinking, and build healthier ways of responding to emotional challenges. I combine psychological understanding with practical tools that help clients feel more grounded and in control in their everyday lives.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
CBT: Cognitive behavioural therapyRecommended for those looking for practical support and accountability to change unhelpful thinking and behaviors.
Couples therapySupport for couples working through problems and who want to gain insight into the relational dynamics that contribute to the problem.
Schema therapyRecommended for those who want to break out of negative patterns or "schemas" that they developed early in life and keep repeating.

My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in psychological science. I focus on creating a safe and supportive space where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgment. Therapy is not about being “fixed,” but about understanding yourself more deeply and developing healthier ways to respond to life’s challenges. A central part of my work is nervous system regulation. Many difficulties such as anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and overthinking are connected to how the nervous system responds to stress. In our sessions, we work on understanding these patterns and learning practical ways to calm the body, regulate emotions, and create a greater sense of stability and safety.

Experience

I work extensively with expats and international clients living outside their country of origin. Living abroad often brings unique emotional challenges, including cultural adjustment, loneliness, and identity shifts. I understand these dynamics and provide a therapeutic space that is sensitive to cultural differences and the realities of building a life in a new country.

Through over three years of experience working with clients, I have learned that feeling better does not always mean getting better. While talking to someone can bring temporary relief, real change often happens when you work with a trained professional who can help you understand deeper patterns and develop healthier ways of coping. My goal is to help you not only feel supported, but also create meaningful and lasting change.
