About me

Hi! My name is Tania, and I am a Humanistic Counselor who values openness, curiosity, and a judgment-free therapeutic space. My work is grounded in accompanying people through processes of reflection and change, supporting them in clarifying their goals and exploring new perspectives. I see therapy as a space for ongoing self-recreation, where meaningful change can emerge through increased self-awareness and self-esteem. Due to my father’s profession and later my own choices, I spent the first 28 years of my life moving countries approximately every three years, before a sudden (but actually long-brewing) change of heart led me to settle in Madrid, Spain. This lifestyle fostered deep cultural sensitivity, adaptability, and fluency in four languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French. It also gave me a lived understanding of uprootedness and ‘otherness,’ and of the quiet pain that can arise from feeling alienated from one’s own culture: an experience I was only able to fully process through therapy. I studied philosophy at university and later trained as a conference interpreter, after a brief period preparing for a diplomatic career. It was through my own therapeutic process that I developed a profound interest in psychotherapy, which led me to train in Humanistic, Integrative, Systemic, and Psychosomatic approaches. My personal and professional path has been non-linear, and I experience this as a strength in my practice. If you are looking for a therapist who is comfortable navigating complexity and alternative pathways, please reach out!

Approach

Treatment Approaches
CounsellingRecommended for those who want to talk through their emotional challenges with a professional in a safe, supportive environment.
Psychotherapy Recommended for those who want to work through emotional or mental health challenges by talking with a trained psychotherapist.
Systemic therapyRecommended for those who want to understand how their relationships and environments influence their behavior and emotions, particularly within family or organizational systems.
My approach to counseling is collaborative and relational. I aim to create a warm, safe, and judgment-free space where you can explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences with honesty and care. Rather than offering fixed answers, I value curiosity and reflection as ways of uncovering what feels most authentic and meaningful for you. I see therapy as an ongoing process of self-discovery, where change emerges through awareness, integration, and renewed contact with oneself. I support this process through attentive listening, thoughtful questioning, and a deep respect for your individuality. Informed by Humanistic, Integrative, Systemic, and Psychosomatic perspectives, I welcome unique and non-linear therapeutic paths. Above all, I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to accompany you with presence, curiosity, and compassion. My Therapeutic Services I offer humanistic counseling in a collaborative, open, and non-judgmental setting. Counseling is tailored to your individual needs, experiences, and aspirations, and unfolds at a pace that feels respectful and sustainable for you. Sessions focus on developing self-awareness, exploring patterns, and opening space for new perspectives. Through this process, increased clarity and self-esteem can support meaningful action and change in everyday life. My work is informed by training in Humanistic, Integrative, Systemic, and Psychosomatic therapies, allowing for flexible and non-linear approaches to growth and healing. I particularly value working with clients who are curious about themselves and open to exploration. If you are seeking a therapist who values individuality, personal agency, and reflective depth, I would be glad to support you in your process.

Experience

I am at an early stage in my clinical practice. As part of my training in Humanistic Integrative Psychotherapy, I provided low-cost therapy sessions to a small number of clients under supervision. This included working with two clients over a period of several months, as well as shorter-term work with a fellow trainee. I currently work both as a therapist and as a conference interpreter.

Education

My interest in therapy grew out of my own experience of being in therapy, and the impact it had on how I understand myself and relate to others. I originally studied Philosophy at King’s College London. I’ve always been drawn to the big mysteries in life (freedom, meaning, the divine, etc.) and that time gave me a way into thinking about them, even if it often left me with more questions than answers. After that, I spent some time preparing for the Brazilian diplomatic exams, where I was exposed to subjects like international relations, history, law, and economics. I later trained and worked as a conference interpreter and translator. Although I didn’t pursue a career in diplomacy, these experiences exposed me to a wide range of people, contexts, and perspectives, and broadened my understanding of the world. My move into therapy came later. I trained in Humanistic Integrative Psychotherapy at Galene Institute and completed a Master’s in Systemic Therapy at Gestalt Institute. I am currently finishing my training in Psychosomatic Medicine and Health Psychotherapy with the Spanish Society of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy. Looking back, my path hasn’t been linear, but each step has shaped the way I work today — with attention, curiosity, and respect for each person’s experience.
