I am a Psychologist with a background in both Clinical Psychology and research in Cognitive Neuroscience, trained at McGill University (Montreal, Canada) and in France (Université Lyon 2, Lyon; Université Paris 5 and l’Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris). I established a clinical private practice in 2008 in Paris working with the international expat community and local clients with traditional CBT and EMDR, as well as other approaches stemming from CBT such as Schema Therapy, Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have also been working regularly online for the past few years. In addition to my clinical practice, I have also worked in the fields of research (neuroscience, clinical psychology), journalism in Psychology (for Sciences Humaines/ Le Cercle Psy), teaching (Université Paris 10) and pedagogy (AFTCC: French CBT association).
I work with brief Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in which the therapist and the client collaborate in order to modify Behaviours, Thoughts and Emotions related to the psychological problem. An essential part of CBT is "homework" between the sessions favouring acquisition of new thought patterns and behavioural habits.
Treatment tends to be rather short-term (a few months to one or two years depending on the problem(s)) and improvement can generally be noted after only a few sessions. I also use other approaches stemming from CBT such as Schema Therapy, Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
I also work with EMDR, when appropriate. EMDR was originally developed to treat post-traumatic stress (PTSD) following stressful and often life-threatening events such as accidents or intentional violence. Today this therapy can be extended to other situations that may nonetheless be just as psychologically harmful.
