About me

I'm Ekaterina — an accredited psychotherapist and trauma specialist with over 2,000 sessions and hundreds of clients. I work online worldwide in English, Russian and Spanish.

For me, therapy is more than a job — it's personal. And it works because I've lived what many of my clients are going through. I know what it's like to be stuck.

I grew up in a crowded flat in an industrial city of Russia. I knew very little about boundaries, personal space, or believing a different life was possible. What I did know was that no one was coming to save me — if I wanted out, it depended entirely on me.

At 17 I left home. I didn't get into a decent university on my first attempt, so I worked full-time during the day and studied until 2am every night. That got me a scholarship to Moscow State University — one of the best in Russia. From there I built businesses, launched a travel company, lived in Indonesia, then Turkey, and eventually relocated to Mexico. Through every reinvention, one thread never broke: my passion for personal growth.

Since the age of 14 I had been going to personal development trainings — hundreds of courses, seminars and leadership programmes over the years. I was looking for something with meaning, deeper than teaching, more than just selling. When I accidentally walked into a coaching course without even knowing what it was, everything clicked. My very first practice client felt so grateful he paid me — even though he wasn't supposed to. That was the beginning.

My journey into therapy I started as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) in 2015, then deepened my training and earned my MA in Psychology Counselling from the University of Manchester in 2020, becoming an Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist (MBACP). Then I discovered Reference Point Therapy — not as a therapist, but as a client. It reached the roots of my own unresolved trauma in a way nothing else had. I healed. So I trained in it. Most recently I added EMDR to my practice. Every method I use, I've chosen because it works — I've experienced it myself.

How I work I'm a solution-focused therapist. That means I don't just help you understand your patterns — I help you resolve them. Every session has a purpose. It's never just talking. My approach integrates CBT, coaching, counselling and trauma-focused methods — tailored to what each client actually needs.

The two key interventions I use are:

EMDR — helps the brain reprocess stuck or painful memories so they lose their emotional charge. Widely used for trauma, anxiety and PTSD Reference Point Therapy (RPT) — a somatic approach similar to Somatic Experiencing by Peter Levine. Rather than working through thoughts alone, RPT works with how trauma is held in the body — helping the nervous system locate and release the earliest root of a pattern through emotional and physical processing. The result is real cognitive and behavioural shifts, often faster than talk therapy alone

What we work on

Trauma and difficult past experiences Anxiety and depression that keep coming back Burnout and loss of direction Low self-esteem and personal boundaries Repetitive patterns in relationships Feeling stuck — knowing what's right but unable to change

What clients say "Significant shifts in my behaviour after every session — these sessions have been invaluable in understanding and transforming myself." "I feel immediately lighter and energised after our sessions." "Touching on core issues that have helped me start identifying root causes. Ekaterina is easy to talk to, making each session profoundly effective." My clients get permanent results — changes in their emotional and even physical state, more confidence, healthier relationships, and freedom from old scenarios.

If you're tired of the same repetitive scenarios, can't get over something, or know what's right but keep doing the same thing anyway — there is a solution.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
EMDRRecommended for those dealing with trauma who want to process painful memories in a structured way to reduce their emotional impact.
Solution-focused therapyRecommended for those who want quick, practical solutions to their problems without focusing too much time on the past.
Trauma informed careRecommended for those who have experienced trauma and need a safe, supportive space to heal at their own pace.

My approach is built on one core belief: symptoms are not the problem — they are signals.

Anxiety, depression, burnout, low self-esteem, repetitive patterns in relationships — these are not character flaws or things you simply need to manage better. They are the nervous system's way of pointing to something unresolved underneath. Until that root is found and processed, the symptoms keep returning — no matter how much willpower, self-awareness, or effort you apply. This is why I don't work on symptoms. I work on what's causing them.

What "solution-focused" actually means It means every session has a purpose. We are always moving toward something — not circling the past indefinitely. I don't come in with a fixed agenda. I start where you are: what's activated today, what's present, what has shifted. From there we identify what we're working on — and we go there directly. Sometimes that's processing a specific memory or emotional charge. Sometimes it's understanding a pattern that keeps repeating — in relationships, at work, in how you treat yourself. Sometimes it's both in the same session. It's never just talking.

What I actually see in sessions Across hundreds of clients, certain themes appear again and again: The person who knows exactly what they should do — and can't do it. The one who takes care of everyone else and has no idea how to turn that care toward themselves. The one who expects something unpleasant from every message, every interaction — living in a state of low-level anticipatory dread. The one who criticises themselves and others as a way of staying in control, because somewhere early on, trust was broken. Often these patterns have roots that go back a long way — a childhood where boundaries weren't respected, where love felt conditional, where the only way to feel safe was to be useful, invisible, or perfect. The adult version is capable, often successful, and quietly exhausted. This is the work: finding where the pattern began, and resolving it there — not managing it at the surface.

How I work — the methods My approach integrates CBT, counselling and trauma-focused methods, tailored to each client.

The two key interventions I use are:

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) helps the brain reprocess memories that have become stuck — stored with their original emotional intensity intact, so that they continue to activate the same responses years later. Through bilateral stimulation, the emotional charge of a memory is reduced until it can be recalled without being re-experienced. Clients describe it as something that once felt enormous simply settling — and that shift shows up in behaviour, sleep, physical tension, and relationships.

Reference Point Therapy (RPT) is a somatic approach — working with how emotional pain is held in the body as well as the mind, similar in principle to Somatic Experiencing by Peter Levine. Rather than analysing thoughts, we start with the felt sense in the body and follow it to its earliest root. Once located, we work to release and reprocess it at the level of the nervous system. The result is genuine cognitive and behavioural shifts — often faster than talk-based approaches alone.

What changes

Clients describe freedom from anxiety that had been present for years. Resolution of patterns that had repeated across multiple relationships. Confidence that feels genuinely internal, not performed. Physical changes — reduced tension, better sleep, more energy. And a different relationship with themselves — less self-criticism, more self-trust.

I work fully online in English, Russian and Spanish. Sessions are one hour. I offer a free 20-minute introductory call — no commitment, just a conversation to see if we're a good fit.

If you're ready to stop managing and start resolving — I'd be glad to talk.
