Online counseling for expats dealing with missing home, relationship difficulties, and stress at work, or finding it hard to settle abroad.
I’m Vladica, an MA Psychologist. I offer counseling in English and Serbian, mainly for expats and people thinking about moving abroad. I also practise integrative psychotherapy under clinical supervision.
I originally wanted to be a journalist. There was a woman I watched on TV, and I liked the way she asked questions that made people think. When I learned she had studied psychology, I started considering it myself.
I studied Business Psychology and completed a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy. I’ve worked in counseling, mental health writing, HR, and recruitment. Through that work, I saw how much difficulties at work can affect life outside it, and the other way around.
I’ve also thought a lot about leaving Serbia myself. When a close friend moved to Slovenia, hearing about her everyday life made me think more about what comes after moving.
You might be happy you moved and still miss your family, friends, or the familiarity of your old life. You may be finding work difficult, having problems with your partner, or wondering why you don’t quite feel like yourself there. Perhaps the life you have now is still far from what you hoped for.
We can talk about what is difficult for you, what you miss, and what you would like to be different.
I offer online individual sessions for adults in English and Serbian. Sessions last 60 minutes and cost €50. You can contact me with a question or book through my calendar.
You can expect support, understanding, and curiosity about what you tell me. I want to understand how you think and how you deal with things, so I can get to know you better.
I ask questions, share what I’ve noticed, and check whether I’ve understood you correctly. If I get something wrong, or a question doesn’t feel helpful, you can tell me. We can take more time with something when you need it.
My approach is integrative, with an emphasis on our relationship and how we work together. That includes talking about what you need from me and whether our conversations are helping.
In the first session, we talk about what brought you here and what you would like help with. You don’t need to know exactly where to start. I’ll also explain confidentiality, supervision, and how the sessions work. Toward the end, we’ll discuss what we could focus on first.
We usually meet weekly at the beginning and agree on the pace together. There is no fixed number of sessions. We talk along the way about what is helping and what we may need to do differently.
Sometimes we work through a particular situation, such as a difficult conversation. We might look at what was said, how you felt, what you wanted to say, and practise how you could respond. When we try an exercise or a practical tool, we discuss whether it actually helps you.
