About me

Hello and welcome! My name is Masami Yamamoto Hutchins, and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) based in Olympia, Washington. With a diverse clinical background—including deep, foundational experience in hospice care—my career has been dedicated to walking alongside individuals through life's most profound transitions. I provide a gentle, grounding space to process not just traditional bereavement, but the profound, "unspoken" grief we often carry in silence. Whether you are navigating the heavy aftermath of a medical crisis, the exhaustion of caregiver burnout, or ambiguous losses like separation and emotional detachment, your pain is valid here.

Building on this foundation, I hold a special focus on supporting high-achieving professionals, international students, and corporate expats. I understand the unique isolation that comes with high performance—the silent burnout and loneliness that can persist even when you have abundant resources. When you are high-functioning, the world expects you to carry the load without breaking, which can make your exhaustion feel completely invisible. Having a bicultural perspective myself, I also understand the weight of acculturation stress and the complex grief of transnational family distance. I provide a bilingual (English and Japanese) environment where you can safely drop the mask and express the fullness of your experience.

To meet you wherever you are on your journey, I offer two distinct paths of remote care: formal clinical psychotherapy for clients physically residing within Washington State, and specialized, cross-border transition coaching and consultation for expats worldwide. I invite you to reach out for a warm, low-pressure consultation call to discuss how we can walk through this chapter together and help you find steady ground.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
CounsellingRecommended for those who want to talk through their emotional challenges with a professional in a safe, supportive environment.
Holistic approachRecommended for those who want to address their mental health through a balanced focus on mind, body, and spirit.
Humanistic psychologyRecommended for those looking for a therapy that emphasizes personal growth and self-fulfillment, focusing on becoming your best self in a positive, non-judgmental space.

My approach is deeply grounding, humanistic, and non-judgmental. Utilizing Internal Family Systems (IFS) and person-centered approach and person-in-the environment/system. we will gently make room for all the "parts" of you—the part that is a fierce survivor, the part that is mourning a lost future, and the part that is simply exhausted.

Like the shifting of the seasons, grief and illness fundamentally alter our landscape, but there is still space to find steady ground and adapt. As an LICSW in Washington State, my goal is to provide a sanctuary where your entire story is valid. Please visit my website to learn more and schedule a free 20-minute consultation—we can walk through this chapter together.
