About me

Approach

Treatment Approaches
CounsellingRecommended for those who want to talk through their emotional challenges with a professional in a safe, supportive environment.
Humanistic psychologyRecommended for those looking for a therapy that emphasizes personal growth and self-fulfillment, focusing on becoming your best self in a positive, non-judgmental space.
Person-centered approachRecommended for those looking for a supportive, non-judgmental space where they can lead the conversation and explore their feelings at their own pace.
I am a person-centered therapist, as well as a critical psychologist. This means that my work is done in collaboration with the person in therapy, working together to understand the issues and the ways through which to work through them; I also adhere to an understanding of suffering/distressed as something contextually informed by the reality that surrounds us - meaning that outside influences such as wealth inequality, discrimination in all forms, geopolitical events, play a determinant role in the shaping of suffering and mental health issues.

Experience

6 years in practice450+ sessions on It's ComplicatedOver 1 year at It's Complicated
I am currently working as a full-time therapist in on-line settings, with a recent 2-year experience as a counselor for victims of domestic violence/gender-based violence in an NGO in Portugal. I have previously worked as a therapist for university students in a college campus, as well as having worked as a therapist in a GP/health clinic for the general population. All the while I have kept in contact with private practice via individual therapy, mostly done online.

Education

I have a post-grad in Affirmative Psycho-social Interventions with the LGBTQI+ community, as well as a Qualification to work as a Victim Support Worker. I have a Master's in Clinical Psychology, with a focus on counseling and long-term psychological intervention. I am currently beginning the process to become and accredited psychotherapist in Person Centered Psychotherapy, which is the approach that I have worked with since beginning my work as a therapist.
