I am a licensed psychologist and psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience in psychological counseling, psychotherapy, education, and mental health promotion. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals, couples, parents, and children - supporting them during times of emotional difficulty, personal crisis, and important life transitions. Whether someone is facing anxiety, parenting challenges, difficulties in relationships, or simply seeking personal growth, I strive to provide a space where they can feel seen, understood, and supported.
My professional journey began with a deep curiosity about people’s emotional worlds and the ways we grow and heal through connection. Over the years, this curiosity has grown into a clear sense of purpose: to walk alongside others with empathy, clarity, and practical tools tailored to their unique needs. I have a particular interest in emotional development, high sensitivity, and the parent-child relationship, and I find it incredibly meaningful to support people in deepening their understanding of themselves and their relationships.
In 2023, I founded the Arcadia Counseling Center with the vision of creating a warm, professional, and supportive environment for individuals and families. What brings me the greatest fulfillment in my work is witnessing those moments when a client reconnects with their own strength, when something painful becomes understandable, or when a family finds new ways to grow closer. I believe in therapy as a space where people can be fully themselves - without judgment or pressure - and from there, begin to find new clarity, direction, and peace.
I occasionally host educational webinars for parents and professionals, in Croatian language. The upcoming two webinars cover the topics: "Is Your Child Highly Sensitive?" and "Children and Divorce" (More information and registration at: https://www.facebook.com/tamara.zakula/posts/pfbid02bvsbFC7mDiFn7v8LKhxsYyvLVQwRPf5cdG7AveoD72QFcnGYNLjfg7u7Cgb6vwtwl?locale=hr_HR
My approach is grounded in respect, collaboration, and lifelong learning, and I’m always inspired by the courage and honesty my clients bring into the room. I consider it a privilege to be invited into their lives and to offer a steady presence as they explore new ways of being and relating.
In my free time, I nurture a personal spiritual practice that helps me stay grounded and present in my work. Over the past years, I have also gained knowledge in various energy-based techniques - including sound therapy with Tibetan singing bowls, energy healing techniques, and others - which deepen my understanding of the subtle connections between the mind, body, and spirit in the healing process. These experiences give me a broader perspective in working with clients and allow me to stay open to those who wish to explore healing on a deeper level – connecting our emotions with our inner drives and authentic selves.
Every person comes with their own story, strengths, and potential. My goal is to meet them exactly where they are and support them on their journey toward where they want to be.
