I graduated from the New Bulgarian University in 1997 with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and in 2007 with a Master's degree in Family Counseling, with a specialization in Family and Marital Therapy. Until December 2024, in parallel with my work with clients as a family therapist, I worked in the social sphere. For the last 5 years I was the manager of a social service - "Supervised Housing", at the Bulgarian Red Cross. I have many years of experience as a lecturer-trainer. Since 2018, I have been training educators on topics related to teacher-student-parent relationships, prevention of aggression in school, conflict management, and prevention of burnout in pedagogical practice. In addition, I have also trained social workers, for whom I was then a supervisor.
In working with families/couples/individuals, I mainly use the systems approach. It views the family as a system and the processes in the family as a product of the participation – active or passive – of all family members. Depending on the needs of the client/clients, I use techniques from other approaches, but again in the context of relationships with others. When the request is for family counseling, I invite people who live together to a meeting, regardless of their relationships –couples, spouses, spouses with children, siblings, extended family. Who is eligible to be invited to a session is determined after a phone conversation with me or after a first meeting. Meetings last 60 minutes
