My first Honours degree as a social worker led to 23 years of counselling in a private practise. I then went through a divorce and trained as a Psychologist, doing a Research-Practitioner approach to a Divorce Adjustment program for children to empower myself with the knowledge and skills to help my own, and other families going through this impactful life change.
This Masters degree launched me into a Private Practise for 26 years counselling adults wanting to make wise personal and parental post-divorce adjustments, those choosing to overcome an addiction, families facing bereavement, depressed & angry people working through childhood neglect, abuse and trauma, and those motived to know themselves better and make an impact.
I work with couples wanting to build trust and intimacy to love the one they are with through improved communication, conflict resolution, and an ability to know and understand themselves and one another.
I have worked with two different medical teams dealing with clients and their families facing loss: through amputation and through life-threatening diseases, like cancer.
I enjoy working with children using play therapy, but understand this kind of intervention involves an assessment of the whole family system, and the multi-faceted health, educational and social environment impacting each child.
I enjoy hosting workshops for adults seeking advanced parenting skills, and sports or organizational teams wanting to develop a mindset for success through positive intelligence.
I am passionate about the healing power of nature and taking adventurers into wilderness places to gain personal and professional insights, as individuals, or sports or corporate teams, whilst observing wild animals with social behaviour, walking and talking with the Masai and the Bushmen, or swimming with wild, ocean-moving dolphins.
I have many years of training and experience, thus I am able to offer clients a personalised approach with resources that best suite their personality and their circumstances.
With couples counselling I draw on the concepts shared in Imago Relationship therapy and see the couple together and individually.
When facilitating training for advanced parenting skills I value concepts gained from Parent Effectiveness that builds parent-child connections, and results in children who are curious, respectful, confident and good decision makers able to have healthy relationships with themselves and others.
I promote Positive Intelligence operationalised on a hands-on, user-friendly mobile app to shift ways of thinking that hold us hostage, to ways of thinking that engage empathy, curiosity, a deep inner knowing and motivation and that leads to constructive, focused action to achieve life-goals and dreams.
I encourage my clients to get into nature where they can gain physical, emotional and spiritual healing, restoration and balancing, and have specific offerings in terms of online weekly wilderness webinars and real-life, adventurous wilderness encounters that offer personal and professional insights from observing wild animals, communicating with tribal people, and swimming with dolphins.
