About me

Hi! Welcome to my profile!

My name is Oriana and I'm a portuguese clinical psychologist based in the Netherlands, working online in English and Portuguese language.

I have a master's degree and an advanced specialization in clinical and health psychology. I'm registered as a member of OPP (Portuguese Psychologists' Association) and as a member of EFPA (European Federation of Psychologists' Associations). I have experience working with various problems, from addictions, trauma, grief, emotional problems, among others, having worked in one of the most renowned International Treatment Centers, VillaRamadas, treating patients from all over the world, both individually and in group sessions. I also have experience with eating disorders, having worked in the psychiatric ward of the São João hospital in Porto (Portugal) specializing in these problems. At the moment, I also work on an international clinic in the Netherlands (Yes We Can), with adolescents and young adults that struggle with addictions and behavioral problems. Together we will identify patterns of unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, challenge them and create adaptive coping strategies for your life!

Approach

Treatment Approaches
CBT: Cognitive behavioural therapyRecommended for those looking for practical support and accountability to change unhelpful thinking and behaviors.
DBT: Dialectical behaviour therapyRecommended for those who want to learn skills to manage intense emotions and improve their relationships, especially if they feel easily overwhelmed.
Schema therapyRecommended for those who want to break out of negative patterns or "schemas" that they developed early in life and keep repeating.

My approach is integrative: I use different techniques from different approaches depending on what the client needs at any given time and what proves to be most effective, always based on scientific evidence.

However, I work mostly with CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Schema Therapy, as welI with third-generation approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment therapy and Compassion-Focused therapy.

The areas where I have the most experience are: • Chemical addictions, such as alcohol, drugs, medication, among others • Behavioral problems, such as self-harm, gaming, gambling, internet, among others • Eating disorders, such as anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, etc. • Anxiety, such as social anxiety, agorafobia, generalized anxiety, and panic attacks • Depression • Anger issues • Personality disorders, such as narcissistic and borderline • Relationships difficulties • Self-esteem and codependency

My experience with patients from different backgrounds gives me the ability to individualize my assessment and intervention to meet the needs of each patient.

  • The sessions last between 50 and 60 minutes.
  • Contact me for a 30-minute consultation, free of charge, to determine if we're the right fit for each other and then we can move from there!!
