Hi, my name is Meghna and I like to describe myself as a "third-culture" kid, and am currently living in my fourth country. I recently completed my Master's degree in Utrecht and I have first-hand experience of what it is like to be an expat adjusting to a new life abroad. My lived experiences have shaped how I understand others and inform my work as a counsellor.
During my Master's internship, I organised and facilitated a peer support group on loneliness and making new connections. I also have experience in working with people struggling with stress, low self-esteem, anxiety, homesickness, procrastination, etc. I aim to create a safe space where you feel valued, heard and respected.
Having lived across cultures, I deeply value the importance of cultural competence in therapy. I aim to create an inclusive and respectful space where diverse perspectives are welcomed, and you can explore your identity and experiences without fear of judgment.
My therapeutic approach is primarily based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which helps clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions and behaviours. I also integrate elements from Positive Psychology and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
I follow a person-centred approach where collaboration, empathy and authenticity are key and I aim to tailor sessions to individual needs. I believe that you are the expert of your own life and my role is to guide and support you in understanding your thoughts and emotions with compassion.
