As a licensed psychologist trained in CBT and ACT, I help individuals navigate life’s challenges through evidence-based interventions and a compassionate approach. Intercultural and LGBTQIA+ inclusive.
Originally from Greece, where I completed my Bachelor’s studies in Psychology and postgraduate training in Clinical Psychopathology, I have always had a deep fascination with the complexities of the mind. Moving to the Netherlands, I obtained my Master’s degree in Clinical & Health Psychology from Utrecht University, and I have been living and working in the Netherlands since. My master's studies focused on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and I have deepened my skills through further training in CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Different experiences across a variety of settings, such as a public psychiatric hospital, a private clinic, a psychosocial rehabilitation guest house, and private practice, have shaped the work I do today. I have experience with a range of complaints such as depression, anxiety, grief, burn-out, trauma, relational difficulties, self-esteem issues, and ADHD. Having worked with expatriates and internationals from diverse cultural backgrounds —and being an expat myself— I also help individuals navigate the unique challenges of living abroad.
What drives me as a therapist is witnessing the resilience that people are capable of, even in the face of life’s most difficult challenges. I am motivated by the opportunity to support you on your journey toward self-discovery and well-being, helping you develop the tools and insights to create meaningful change, in a safe and warm space.
In Greek, we use the word "θεραπευόμενος" (therapevómenos) to describe someone in therapy. It differs from terms like "patient" or "client" because it implies an active, ongoing process of healing and growth, rather than illness or a transactional relationship. This perspective deeply influences how I approach therapy. I see it as a collaborative journey, where the person I work with is an active participant in their own development.
I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental environment that empowers and encourages this active involvement, ensuring that the process is tailored to each individual's personal needs and aspirations. My main therapeutic approaches are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
CBT is a well-established form of therapy that helps us identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. Together, we explore how your thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected, and we work on developing healthier ways of thinking and responding. It is a goal-oriented approach that provides you with practical tools to manage challenges in your daily life.
ACT emphasizes accepting difficult emotions while allowing you to focus on what truly matters in your life. It fosters creating space for uncomfortable feelings, through mindfulness and other techniques, and using your values as a guide for taking committed action, even in the face of life’s inevitable struggles.
Grounded in CBT and ACT, I integrate elements from other approaches such as Solution-focused Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Positive Psychology, to tailor our work together based on your unique needs, while forming a collaboration based on acceptance, mutual respect, and trust.
