On the outside, your life works. You perform. Deliver. Succeed. But on the inside, something no longer fits. You understand your patterns. Yet they continue to shape your life. Come work with me.
I feel that I have lived three lives. One in the world of finance - markets, pressure, numbers that never sleep. One on the road — traveling across continents and chasing belief systems. And one in the deep, inner terrain of the psyche with years of analysis, meditation, prayer, shadow work, and facing the parts of myself I used to run from. What I offer you draws on all three.
I grew up traveling the world. First with my parents, starting at just 10 months old when we left the Soviet Union for the Middle East. Then to the Netherlands, first when I was a school boy and then when I was a teenager. I attended international schools, growing up between cultures, languages, and places. But home never really felt like home. With every move, I was trying to blend in. Smiling on the outside. Searching on the inside. That made me search for answers early in life. Religion. Spirituality. Yoga. Lots of books. And self-development. And eventually, Carl Jung’s analytical psychology and my own meditation practice. Finally I felt at home. Not in a place but inside myself.
In my mid-20s, cancer took my father. No warning. No preparation. No space to process it. And there was no time to fall apart, no time to grieve. So I did what I knew how to do. I buried it. Pushed it down. And kept moving. Because that’s what you do, right? You survive. You function. You carry on. Not so different from the generations of my ancestors before me — men and women who lived through collectivization, through world wars, through realities where stopping to feel simply wasn’t an option. They learned to endure. To suppress. To move forward, no matter the cost. And here’s the thing: What doesn’t get processed doesn’t disappear. It gets stored. Passed down. From one generation to the next. Until someone decides to stop, turn around and finally face it.
I worked for a U.S. Congressman on Capitol Hill, consulted at a boutique economics firm in Oxford, and tutored literature on the side. And for more than a decade after that, I was an economist and investment banker at one of Europe’s oldest banks in Vienna. Board-level meetings. Traders on the floor, not just algorithms. Global investors. Helping manage serious money. I know exactly what it takes to perform under pressure. I could deliver. I did deliver. From the outside, life looked successful. Internally, something essential was missing. Here’s what I learned the hard way: You can win at the game and still wake up feeling completely empty. When success is disconnected from your soul, it doesn’t feel like winning. It feels like surviving.
There came a moment when I walked away from finance. Not to escape.
I walked away to finally go deeper. When my body began reacting to the daily stress, I took a six month sabbatical. And went to India to look for answers. That trip changed me. What started as a search, led to my Grail quest, as in the old stories. Or the search for enlightenment, as it is know in the East. What started as a desperate hunt for real meaning quietly turned into something else entirely. A profession. I became a Jungian psychologist. And a professional coach.
While studying in London, I wrote my graduate thesis on the shadow. Those hidden suppressed, rejected, denied parts of ourselves we spend lifetimes avoiding. That work was published by The British Psychological Society. I’ve sat in personal analysis for many years. I work under professional supervision. I’ve done — and still do — the real inner work. Today I write on https://x.com/DmitryGourov and share reflections there. My experiences have taught me a brutal, beautiful truth: to look within. Not unlike Oedipus, who blinds himself to truly see. Not allowing performance to hide what is real.
I work with most of my clients for anywhere from four months to two years. I believe being human is messy and beautiful. I bring openness and warmth into my work, but will also push for honesty and change. I tend to go deeper than most would recommend, because that’s where real transformation lives. I love what I do, and I care deeply about the people I choose to work with. Together we take things apart with honesty and put them back together — stronger, clearer, more whole. I see it as an act of creation. If this is what you are looking for, come work with me.
I have had the privilege of working with individuals aged 16 to 60: CEOs, entrepreneurs, business leaders, psychologists, doctors, teachers, engineers and developers, traders, designers, consultants, young professionals, unemployed individuals and stay-at-home mothers.
Curious about what’s possible for you?
Schedule here and let’s talk in complete confidentiality.
From the outside, your life works. You perform. You deliver. You carry responsibility. Perhaps you've become the person everyone depends on. People see your competence, but they don't see the cost of maintaining it. Beneath the achievement, something no longer fits.
You may understand yourself intellectually. You've read the books, maybe been to therapy, worked with coaches, meditated, reflected. You know your patterns. Yet the same dynamics keep repeating—in relationships, at work, and in the quiet moments no one sees.
Achievement no longer brings relief. You keep functioning, but it feels as though you've drifted away from yourself. The life you built may look successful, yet it no longer feels like it belongs to you. The strategies that once protected you—achievement, control, independence, pleasing, numbness—have become prisons. What appears as anxiety, burnout, relationship difficulties, compulsive behaviours, or a loss of meaning is often something deeper asking to be seen: the psyche calling attention to what has been neglected, rejected, or left unlived.
You might recognize yourself here. These are not signs that something is wrong with you. They are often signals that something deeper is asking for attention:
• I am a high performer, but beneath the achievement is constant anxiety. My mind never fully switches off.
• I am successful on the outside, yet exhausted inside. No matter how much I accomplish, it never feels enough.
• I keep repeating the same relationship patterns and sabotage the intimacy I long for.
• I put my needs last and avoid difficult conversations.
• Shame follows me wherever I go. I rarely feel good enough.
• I find temporary relief in addictions, compulsions, pornography, compulsive sex, or other distractions that no longer serve me.
• Life has lost its taste. The old sources of meaning no longer work.
• I am navigating a major transition and no longer know who I am becoming.
• Anger erupts unexpectedly, followed by guilt and self-loathing.
• I've had profound spiritual experiences but struggle to integrate them into my life.
What I Offer Is Simple: A Different Kind of Inner Work
I offer a protected psychological space—a temenos in the spirit of Carl Jung—where every part of you is welcome. Not only the parts you are proud of, but also the parts you've learned to hide: anger, shame, longing, fear, ambition, vulnerability, grief, and desire.
This work is not about fixing symptoms or becoming a better-performing version of yourself. It is about becoming more fully yourself. This is depth work grounded in how the psyche actually operates. Many people arrive with a high level of self-awareness. They understand their patterns, but understanding alone has not changed them. The missing piece is not more information. It is a deeper relationship with what remains unconscious.
Many approaches today focus on changing thoughts, behaviours, and habits. Those approaches are valuable, but they often leave untouched the deeper forces that quietly shape how we love, choose, fear, succeed, sabotage ourselves, and create meaning. My work sits between conventional coaching and clinical treatment. It is for those who know they cannot simply think their way out of the life they are living. Who function while feeling increasingly disconnected from their own inner life.
Instead of asking, "How do I get rid of this?" we begin asking a different question: "What is my psyche trying to tell me?"
I work at the intersection of Jungian psychoanalysis, shadow work, positive psychology, and executive coaching. Dreams, symbols, fantasies, recurring themes, emotional triggers, and life transitions become meaningful sources of information rather than problems to eliminate.
Together we:
• Meet the shadow not as pathology, but as disowned potential.
• Integrate the contradictions that keep you divided against yourself.
• Develop a deeper relationship with desire, power, vulnerability, creativity, and meaning.
• Reconnect with the life that genuinely belongs to you.
• Transform insight into lasting change.
Carl Jung called this process individuation. Most people experience it as coming home to themselves—and beginning to live the parts of life they had unconsciously abandoned.
Alongside psychoanalytic work, I offer executive coaching for leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals facing difficult decisions, transitions, and questions of purpose. Insight alone rarely changes a life. Integration does.
If something in these words resonates, you do not need a perfect explanation before reaching out. Most people don't reach out because they have everything figured out. They reach out because something inside has become impossible to ignore. The first step is not understanding. The first step is honesty. Sometimes that begins with a conversation.
I offer a 30-minute introductory conversation to explore whether we are a good fit to work together.
