Welcome here. My name is Joanna. I am a social worker, a pedagodue, a systemic practitioner, and a Gestalt psychotherapist. I was drawn to this area of work through my own challenging childhood experiences, which I overcame successfully with the help of counselling and self-developmental work. I moved to the UK straight after completing my Master degree, where I started working as a social worker and later systemic practitioner with families and children in crisis. This was a tough but very resourceful experience, showing me the impact early childhood experiences have on us and how relational trauma can alter our experience of self and the world. However, my work also taught me that our brain has not only a capacity to adapt to adverse experiences but is capable of responding to a supporting and nurturing environment through building new neuropathways and allowing us to experience life in a more positive and fulfilling way.
I have been working as a therapist in private practice in Warsaw, Poland, since 2020. My focus as a practitioner is to provide my clients with safe and contained space, support, and empathy, as I believe these components are crucial for a person to feel ready to open and explore their emotions and needs. As Gabor Mate, a trauma researcher, once said, "The trauma happens in relationship, and only in relationship can it be healed.".
I have regular supervision with a certified supervisor, and I am in individual therapy, which both supports my growth and professional ethics to allow me to be the best resource for my clients.
I invite you to get in touch if you suffer from depression, anxiety, eating disorder, low self-esteem, feelings of emptiness, or relationship issues, and also when you need to explore what next in your life.
Privately, I am a mother, a traveler, and a foodie.
