Welcome – my name is Marie, and I am a Gestalt therapist. My focus is our connection with the body, also within the therapeutic process. I offer individual sessions, group sessions, and topic-specific workshops
Through Gestalt therapy, I found my path back to greater aliveness, genuine connection, and - ultimately - to myself.
In my work as a therapist, I strive to help others gain more inner freedom — to enter into a resonant connection with their own being, with other people, and with the world — should they choose to do so.
I currently live in Berlin, but I was born and raised near Stuttgart, after school studied medicine in Cologne. I have always been a passionate traveler —spending a year in London after finishing high school, embarking on numerous journeys, and, in my early thirties, cycling all the way from Germany to India. My curiosity about other people, cultures, and perspectives has always been a driving force; all these journeys and adventures have repeatedly broadened my horizons and gifted me with meaningful encounters and experiences.
My connection to nature — which I experience profoundly during my outdoor travels and through the practice of yoga — is another way in which I, as a person, engage with the world through my own body.
My professional journey began with medical school, followed by work as a physician. After my cycling expedition, I began to move from working as a physician in hospitals to a training as a Gestalt therapist.
So my path led me from internal medicine to psychosomatics, and finally to Gestalt therapy, with a focus on body-oriented psychotherapy.
On this way, I transitioned from a purely physical, medical approach of working with people toward a form of therapy that acknowledges the body without imposing control upon it — seeking to understand the body’s impulses rather than trying to suppress or change them.
This work as a therapist as I do it now continues to broaden my horizon still every single day.
I offer a gentle and warm environment — a space for experimenting, exploring, playing, gaining clarity, and processing — or, in short, a space simply to be. And, it's also a place to discover how we actually stand in our own way in exactly trying just to be.
The body, with its sensations, impulses and movements, is taken seriously and is an integral part of the entire process. It can serve as a guide or a resonance body, helping us to understand things on a deeper level. Through this, internal changes can become more tangible, "real", and attainable.
We work together on the things that are there in the moment, following the natural flow that emerges.
Whatever surfaces during the therapeutic process — in any given moment — is precisely what needs to be addressed.
Often (of course unconsciously) we recreate the very patterns and dynamics in the therapeutic relationship that cause us difficulties in our daily lives; in other words, we "bring everything with us" that we can then work with.
In therapy, we can engage with these patterns directly and experientially, bringing the unconscious into greater awareness and conciousness and, in turn, discovering a new freedom in how we act and make choices.
Tapping into our own potential and truly connecting with ourselves — and with one another — is a magical experience, and it is what makes Gestalt therapy so unique.
Ultimately, for me, Gestalt therapy represents vitality and growth, rooted in freedom and response-ability — all held and grounded in love.
I currently work in my private therapy practice in Berlin-Kreuzberg, first part-time while working in a psychosomatic medicine clinic as a doctor and therapist for 2 years, then full time since the beginning of 2026.
I also gained experience in internal medicine, working for 2,5 years in 2 different hospitals in Cologne and Stuttgart with a broad range of specialties, e.g. cardiology, gastroenterology and oncology, before I decided to take a break and go on an around-the-world trip with my bicycle.
Gestalt- and Bodypsychotherapist at the Gestalt-Institut Frankfurt a.M. from 2021-2025. Before that I had studied medicine and finished with my Staatsexamen in 2015, completing my medical doctoral thesis (Dr. med.) in 2017. My school education was close to Stuttgart with primary school, continuing Gymnasium.
