I am a curious and engaged therapist. I am also quite intuitive, I often get a feel for what is going on, before it becomes conscious or verbalised. I love working creatively, with the use metaphors or the imagination.

About me

University education & experience:

I am originally German, but I moved to Scotland in 2009 to do a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Afterwards, I first pursued a Diploma, then a Master's in Person-Centred Counselling. Person-Centred Counselling is based on Carl Rogers' principles, the Father of the Humanistic Psychology movement. More about that further below.
For six years, I’ve worked as a therapist in Scotland, helping people find clarity, resilience, and balance. This journey has shaped me profoundly. I’ve deepened my understanding of what true healing means and grown confident in the tools and insight I bring to every session.

When I returned to Germany, I pursued the Heilpraktiker für Psychotherapie qualification, which allows me to practice here and continue my work with clients. This training built on my existing experience as a therapist and helped me align my practice with Germany’s legal requirements, regarding therapy.

Mindfulness, Yoga and Meditation:

For many years now I have meditated regularly, and I found that meditation and mindfulness have become a crucial part of my life and of the maintenance of my own inner balance.
I wrote my Master's thesis on the connection between mindfulness and meditation and the therapeutic presence the practitioner brings. Spoilers: There is a link.
I find that my training as a Yoga teacher also complements my therapeutic practice. I like using relaxation methods and meditation techniques to help clients find more inner peace and successfully master the challenges of life.

My areas of focus:

If you’re going through a major change in your life like a shift in direction that leaves you feeling uncertain, then counselling can offer clarity and support. If you often find yourself caught in cycles of worry, anxiety, or self-doubt, or if you’re navigating inner conflicts and seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, I think my training and my approach are just right for you. My approach is gentle, empathetic, and grounded in the belief that healing begins with genuine connection. Together, we can explore what’s been weighing on you and help you reconnect with your confidence and sense of direction.

If you find yourself on a deeper journey of self-development, call it spiritual development or a process of finding yourself, I believe my approach and my experience can make a real difference.

You might be finding yourself in difficult circumstances, triggered by excessive meditation or similar spiritual practices, and may feel severely disoriented. A lot of difficult emotional baggage can come up; a lot of change can hit you. If you feel like this resonates with you, I would like to be there to meet you in that moment to provide the support you need.

Approach

Treatment Approaches
Person-centred approachRecommended for those looking for a supportive, non-judgmental space where they can lead the conversation and explore their feelings at their own pace.

Person-Centred Therapy, developed by Carl Rogers:

Person-Centred Therapy, as developed by Carl Rogers, is a "soft" form of psychotherapy that places the empathic relationship between client and therapist at the forefront. Instead of relying on theoretical models that characterise how clients can be healed through the therapist's expertise, Person-Centred Therapy focuses on the empathic relationship and restores the client’s role as the expert.

The fundamental assumption of this therapeutic approach is that each person is their own expert, carrying the solutions to their problems and the answers to life's questions within themselves. While these answers can be difficult to find, most people understand that they can only be discovered internally.

Person-Centered Therapy is Rogers' response to the question of how this can be achieved: not alone, but within a therapeutic relationship characterised by empathy, unconditional positive regard, acceptance, and openness.

What I found out way later than I should have, effectively at the end of my training, was this: Carl Rogers drew great inspiration for his Method after an extensive trip to India, where he encountered a very different way of engaging with the human spirit than we were used to in the West.

I was discovering that meditation and mindfulness rely on the same principles that I was learning to apply in the therapy room.
I now view counselling as a form of interpersonal healing meditation, a way to find back to self-directed growth, embedded in a therapeutic relationship.

To be able to practice Counselling in Germany, I had to do a additional training and pass two exams. This was to enable me to continue my client work in Germany. I also trained as a Yoga teacher, as it adds greatly to my personal quality of life, but I also find it gives me skills which can be very useful in the Counselling room.
