I am a trained counsellor who specialises in anxiety conditions. I also work on identity and belonging issues. I am registered to practice with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.
I am also a trained Hypnotherapist which utilises Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques (Hypno-CBT) and I work on issues such as low self esteem, low levels of confidence, high levels of stress, phobias, panic attacks and other anxiety conditions. I bring a range of tools into my practice that can allow clients to feel self-empowered, get to know why they may be feeling or experiencing what they may be and then be able to use practical tools that can empower them towards mental health and emotional healing.
I am passionate about my work, and as someone who has previously had difficult periods with anxiety, I fully understand the hourly, daily and weekly impacts that anxiety has on self-confidence and self-esteem. I therefore know about the wide ranging impacts that it can have on people's lives, their partners and their families.
I also work with clients who want to stop smoking and achieve weight loss.
I therefore bring with me a range of tools and mechanisms that can help people to build better lives for themselves mentally, emotionally and physically.
I believe that there are numerous factors that come together to create mental health and emotional difficulties for people. My work includes looking at the history, the previous experiences, trauma events, family support (or lack of), and the cognitive processes and developments that can lead to disease and mental health difficulties. My work therefore takes a holistic approach to working with clients so that they can get a better and wider understanding as to the roots of their issues, and to then feel empowered enough to use some of the practical tools that I bring with my work. The key here is to also ensure their motivation and to build a strong working and therapeutic alliance with them.
I can integrate my counselling skills and my hypnotherapy and associated CBT skills into my work, and this adds value to my therapeutic work. I also ensure that my work explores the physical impacts from mental health difficulties and the two go hand in hand in keeping up and maintaining difficult mental health difficulties.
My work is person-centred, is based on clients finding their own solutions and where this is difficult, working with them through the tool-box of practical exercises that resonate with them.
