I am an Integrative Psychotherapist; and Clinical Psychologist. I have been practicing psychotherapy for over 20 years. I offer online adult psychotherapy and counselling in English and Italian.
My name is Laura. I am Italian but left Italy shortly after completing my Clinical Psychology Training to move to London where I have been living for over 20 years. It is in the UK where I trained as Counsellor and Psychotherapist and have been practicing for many years in-person and continue at present with online sessions.
I have always been interested in psychology and psychotherapy, and in particular the concept of the unconscious, and how early life experiences influence our adult lives. This concept is something that has accompanied me in my personal and professional development and forms the foundation of my clinical practice.
Having gone through a number of transitions myself, either relocations or personal change, has given me a broad understanding of the challenges, as well as the great growth opportunities, that living internationally and as an expatriate offer. In particular, I can empathise with issues around cultural adjustment, transition, anxiety, stress and loneliness that living abroad can bring.
In my career, I have been practicing counselling and psychotherapy in a variety of settings including NHS (UK), education, private practice and employee assistance programmes. Currently, I work in private practice with adults and young adults who are experiencing a wide range of mental health difficulties including stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and trauma related experiences, relationships, and work-related difficulties.
I am an Adult Integrative Psychotherapist, and I offer psychological and therapeutic treatments for a wide range of emotional difficulties. I also provide individual and group clinical supervision for therapists. In particular, I offer online Psychotherapy for anxiety, relationship difficulties, recurring emotional patterns and life transitions - with experience and understanding of expat and international life.
I believe in a personalised approach, putting my relationship with you at the centre of the therapeutic process, and by offering a safe and confidential space where difficulties can be explored and worked through regular sessions. Therapy with me offers you a space to slow down and reflect on these experiences in greater depth.
Together, we can explore how ways of thinking, feeling and relating to others may have developed over time as understandable responses to earlier experiences. As you become more aware of these patterns and the often unconscious forces that influence them, new possibilities can emerge. You may find yourself relating differently to others, becoming clearer about your needs and boundaries, and making choices that feel more aligned with who you are and how you want to live.
My approach is warm and practical, and together we will explore what concerns you in your life and find ways through that feel right for you. Being an integrative psychotherapist, I have been trained in several models of therapy and in my work I draw from the psychodynamic, person-centred and humanistic approaches. This allows me to offer you the type of intervention, or combination of interventions, that is most appropriate for your particular needs.
My work experience is broad. I have worked in different clinical settings including out-patient and residential care, both in the public and private sectors. My clinical experience includes working: . In specialist residential organisations, supporting people with challenging mental health needs return to a more independent life; . In mainstream and alternative Education including PRU and special schools; . In NHS Psychotherapist department; . In Employee Assistant Programme; . In private practice as psychotherapist, clinical psychologist and clinical supervisor for the last 20 years; . in Psychotherapist training institution as Clinical supervisor and lecturer.
