It's Complicated

Find therapists that can help with Gaming addiction

Gaming disorder is defined as a pattern of gaming behavior, including digital-gaming or video-gaming, characterized by impaired control over the gaming. As with any addiction, gaming disorder is described as a clinical impulse control disorder, where increasing priority is given to gaming over other activities to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other interests and daily activities. While the harm in addictions to substances is obvious in their physical symptoms, it is often less clear with a gaming addiction. The ways in which excessive gaming can negatively affect the life of the gamers, is by making them increasingly more withdrawn and isolated, foregoing work, school and other responsibilities to play. Just like with other addictions, therapy can help treat a gaming disorder.
