How do I start therapy in São Paulo?

You contact a therapist directly. There is no referral to arrange and no assessment to pass, so the first step is choosing someone whose approach and availability suit you and sending them a message. Most therapists treat the first session as a chance for both of you to see whether it feels like a fit before agreeing to continue.

What does private therapy in São Paulo cost?

Each therapist sets their own rate and shows it on their profile, so the cost varies from profile to profile rather than following a fixed local price. You pay the therapist directly. Rates and session lengths are both listed, which makes it easier to compare before you get in touch.

Can I see a therapist online instead?

Yes. Many therapists work online, which removes the question of commute and widens your options considerably if you are looking for a particular language, approach or specialisation. It also means sessions can continue if you move or travel. You can browse everyone offering online sessions across the platform, not only those based nearby.

What if only a few therapists are listed in São Paulo?

Therapists who offer online sessions can usually see clients wherever they are based, so the practical choice is often wider than the local list suggests. Answering a few questions will get you a shortlist drawn from everyone available, not just this city.

How are the therapists on It's Complicated checked?

Every therapist on It's Complicated is verified before their profile goes live. Each profile also shows the therapist's qualifications and training, which is worth reading alongside their approach and rates before reaching out.
