Hypnotherapy, sometimes also referred to as guided hypnosis, is an approach where hypnosis is used to create a state of focused attention, relaxation and increased suggestibility during which positive suggestions and guided imagery are used to help individuals deal with a variety of concerns and issues. The goal is to place the individual in a heightened state of consciousness or mindfulness, so as to use this altered state of awareness to deal with the client's problems.
