It's Complicated

Find a therapist that can help with Separation anxiety disorder

Separation anxiety disorder is a condition in which an individual experiences excessive and persistent fear or worry about being separated from attachment figures or from home. This can lead to avoidance behaviors and significant disruptions in their daily life. While it is more commonly diagnosed in children, it can also affect adults.

Therapy can be an effective treatment for separation anxiety disorder, particularly cognitive-behavioral therapy. In therapy, individuals can learn coping strategies to manage their anxiety, such as relaxation techniques, mindfulness, and exposure therapy. Exposure therapy involves gradually exposing the individual to situations that trigger anxiety about separation, such as spending time away from a loved one or leaving the home, and working with the therapist to develop strategies to manage their anxiety.

Therapy can also provide a supportive environment for individuals to explore the underlying causes of their separation anxiety and develop a greater sense of self-awareness and understanding of their anxiety. With the support of a therapist, individuals can ultimately overcome their separation anxiety and lead a more fulfilling life.

About It's Complicated

In 2019, two therapists set out to tackle a complicated problem.

The psychiatrist Carl Jung once wrote that, “Nobody, as long as he moves about among the chaotic currents of life, is without trouble”. One does not have to be a therapist, though, to realize that life is complicated. But finding the right therapist, who you can build a strong relationship with, shouldn’t have to be. This is the founding principle of It’s Complicated.Since our start, we've helped over 23,000 clients and counting, offering thousands of free crisis support hours, and built thriving therapy communities in Berlin, Amsterdam, London, Munich, and Athens.
